Spotify testing cheaper subscription plan

Spotify has begun testing among a small number of users a new subscription plan to complement its standard $9.99/month plan.

The plan will reportedly be $0.99 a month and will allow for users to play songs and albums on demand, but will still feature ads between songs.

Currently, Spotify’s free plan only allows users to listen to curated playlists and shuffled tracks.

Said a Spotify spokesperson:

We’re always working to enhance the Spotify experience and we routinely conduct tests to inform our decisions. We’re currently conducting a test of an ad-supported subscription plan with a limited number of our users.
